Spring is right around the corner, and I always get asked what is a fun new way of changing up your look for spring with out a big commitment.

My favorite way to spruce up my spring look is by picking out a new lip shade to rock. It is cheap usually 15 and you don’t have to commit i.e hair color or cut….or $$$ on a new spring wardrobe.

This season is all about pop colors. When I say pop color, I mean choosing a vibrant shade and adding it to your make up routine. Keeping the face mostly neutral use one vibrant color to high light one of your favorite features. Mine are my lips, I usually wear very natural make up and I pop on a bright new lipstick shade.

Others may choose their eyes, I use a very nude palette of eye shadows on my eyes and add a bright eyeliner, I love to use a black eyeliner and rim my eyes and then add a bright MAC pigment on top to make it pop such as, Teal Pigment.

No matter what you decide, do not be afraid of color, color can be your best friend if done right. Remember a little goes along way. There is a fine line between staying with in trend and going overboard and looking like a Drag Queen. However if that is your intention like Miss Dame Edna by all means go full blast with it.

Just remember to have fun and experiment. Don’t follow the trends, start making them!

What to wear during fall or winter? Make-up wise?

The simplest way to update your fall/winter make up is finding a new shade of lipstick. Inexpensive, but makes a huge difference.

Each fall/winter season we watch runway shows, and we see the extreme of fall/winter make up trends. For the everyday woman, we do not need to go to such extremes.

Picking out the right shade of red lipstick is the trick for winter and fall make up trend. Each season red lipstick is in, with slight variations. One season it can be more of the classic blue -red lips stick (think pinup) the next may be that bordoux wine shade.

As far as trends go, I am a firm believer of taking trends in with a grain of salt.Do what works for you, instead of wearing something that you are uncomfortable with just because a magazine says it is in.

Red can be a very intimidating color to wear, for many woman who are not use to lipstick. So start off easy with a red-hued stain or gloss and graduate to more saturated color lipsticks.

Red looks great on every one, it is all about picking the right shade for your skin tone refer to Glamour’s Best Red lipstick for your skin tone, to help you pick.

You will notice this season shades focuses on a lot of wine color reds which looks amazing on most skin tone.

My tip is on how to perfect the red lip:

  1. Always wear a lip liner close to the lipstick shade, it will aid in crisping your lip line. In addition making the red lips stay put (we want Dita Von Tease red lip perfection not Courtney Love
  2. For extra staying power Fill in the entire lip with the lip liner and then add the lipstick on top with a lip brush for extra stay power (no one wants to be in the bathroom constantly checking for smudging at a party…)
  3. To crisp up the line use, a straight edge make up brush with a little bit of concealer to erase any smearing, finish off with a light dust of transparent powder for staying power.

Some of my favorites for you to try:

MAC Red/ or RUBY WOO- Creamy Classic Pin up red/ Ruby Woo super MATTE

MAC Dubounet: Perfect for Most skin tones, wine shade

MAC Viva GLAM I- Classic Matte Red (100% of the proceeds goes to MAC aids fund)

Cover Girl in Really Red- Pinkish Red

Revlon Top Tomato- The oh so beautiful orange red, also try my fav LADY DANGER by MAC.
