I have always felt that young talent is the heart of the entertainment industry, after all they are our future as cliche as it sounds. Disney has been a profitable young talent machine making young talent, every day house hold names.

Either you believe it to be a bias blog review or not take it as you will. I say this as a disclaimer due to the fact that I have watched personally young talent Trevor Jackson grow up these last few years through our love of capoeira. 

Trevor Jackson is one to watch for, more than a triple threat, this young man is a human sponge when it comes to the arts. Music, to dance, acting, to martial arts I haven’t quite ever met a person that can excel at everything that they touch like Trevor Jackson. 

His new project can be seen tomorrow on the Disney channels new movie “Let it Shine.” Far from being his first notable debut. Trevor track list of projects parallels one that many adult entertainers would strive to achieve.

From the beginning of Young Simba in the musical theatrical production The Lion King a broadway hit, current series regular in Syfy channels hit “Eureka.” in addition to be a rising star as a recording artist with influencers like Michael Jackson, Trevor Jackson has his hands in every pot in the entertainment industry and intends to rock all his endeavors to the fullest. 

Despite his busy schedule in a very often at times skewed and unstable industry, Trevor Jackson stays grounded through the people that surronds him. From his extraordinary and supportive mother (far from the stage mothers that we are all too familiar with,) to his outside normal kid activities such as Capoeira and being active in his martial arts group being mentored by my very own Capoeira profesor Axe Vita.

Now for the actual sport/martial art/art. Omi and Chulapa playing in the roda, what a great surprise this afternoon. If only  I can play, or recover and be as bomb as they are one day…..

Round two…capoeira love west coast meets east coast

So in honor of my surprise from my great friend Jamel aka Chulapa, who has become one of my greatest of friends. He texted messaged my sister for a week to coordinate the surprise visit….crazy.

I was on my way to hang out with him when he visited last time in LA for a capoeira event, but never quite made it because of my accident that landed me in the ICU for two weeks and hospital for almost a month…..came back to check up on me.

Capoeira I must say has become something dear to my heart, I am not just talking about the pure physicality of the martial art but the sense of community, friendships and bond you make with people.

I am so grateful that I found something in my life that brought so many great and genuine people in my life, and truly is probably the best healing medicine and support that I have had through this whole experience. Not only my own academy Capoeira Brasil, but people from other academies. In addition to people who live all over the country, and yes even all over the world.

This video is my little documentation of my first time in NYC last year, where I was there for almost a month (seemed like a life time) Jamel aka Chulapa nearly dragged , with my consent of course, me all over the city to see the sights despite the bitter cold.

We had a lot of fun times, experienced my first slice of new york pizza with him, a elevator ride that went up and down and nearly freaked us out, showed me Harlem and the infamous Apollo.

One day , I won’t get injured or um today have a lady nearly run my sister over with a car…and show him what LA really has to offer….haha.
